The latest available information indicates that the biggest portion of DoD and DoE spending in Missouri was for contracts with Missouri-based companies. Those contracts were to produce goods and provide services to support not only DoD operations in Missouri, but nationally and internationally, as well. In FY 2016, DoD and DoE awarded $10.9 billion in contracts to these Missouri firms. The contracts supported, directly and indirectly, 77,000 total jobs in the state across about 25,000 companies.
